I respect the technical achievement, but this is boring. So I watched it thinking about how much it reminded me of various parts of Spiderman 2 the generic subway bridge and then the cube exploded. Beautiful AND a technological wonder. I think I'm going to judge my new computer's graphics card based on whether or not it can run this demo at full speed. We've come a long way since "Rise! Only weak parts were 1.
The music 2. The shadows or perhaps just the ones on Slashy's Hirez video weren't entirely consistent for some reason- some of the pipes didn't look 3D Much too short! Did I mention I love the gigantic explosions? I assumed those were too difficult to do in any way approaching realism. Kann mal einer n Wuerfel husten? I loved the sinus-scroller elevated roadways. And a bunch of other stuff too Simply stunning. Congrats to fiver! Well, sound effects city ambient is very good for softsynth!
The running bridge is excelent. The show! Fucking amazing demo. No that mutch more to say, this is simply fantastic. It was stunning on the bigscreen. You rule. The RAM is stuffed completely by auto-generated textures ;-.
I watched this live on demoscene. The first thought that I was is that I have to quit the scene Thank you Farbraush! Just want to get my thumb in, so to speak. Great mood, visuals and music complement each other, and the demo is short enough that the concept doesn't get boring. Solid thumb up.
Although the. Great prod, it's the new FR! Like everybody at BP07, I was standing up, amazed, terrified, just happy. Kasparov and the product are back: Totally rules. What can I say?
Simply - Chaos! Very impressive. This is technically very well made and direction is great! Achtung Einsturzgefahr : Very impressive thing that is.
Liked the elevated tracks and the EQX reference in the greetings. To put it straight. It missed that special touch. And the fonts sucked right away except the EQX greet of course even though they were smashed to pieces. But it's a blockbuster And the soundtrack is excellent as well.
Maybe this demo was intended to fit the 64k intro format initially. I just can't imagine the hype effect if it had been. Farbrausch is Farbrausch again!!!!! Cant say shit, it shocked me on the party totally: Congrat FR! Very well done, but I personally find it boring. Oh my god! The moving bridges! So awesome that I can't explain it!
I lost mye breath, for sure Unbelievable what farbraush did. Not only this has never been done in that filesize: , the presentation, direction and the concept is really, really awesome.
Thumbs up for you guys, by releasing this great and inspiring demo! You've made a lot of people happy at the party! Many new ideas here damn you I was working on an exploding particle engine lately myself. This is kind of a small paradigm shift. Let me elaborate: In the past I have watched certain demos that have moved the goalpost a bit further. In 96 I thought that was the peak and it was.
I sort of gave up right there and then. When I saw it I thought : this is what I should aim for. Same with debris. A future classic. Sets new standards regarding sense of scale und camerawork in the demoscene. I see that all the scene wants to thank you - Farbraush for this inpiring work. Me too. Didn't you think about releasing this somewhere at Siggraph?
I'd love to see it there. Good luck and keep this work. Pure energy, a new milestone :. Ok, finnaly, I could watch it. Lol, I just noticed that some corner rooms have lit and dark windows at the same time, this demo sucks I should not have whatched this at work, can't get it out of my mind. It's mindblowing. I love it. At least my jaw is still somewhere over the partyplace floor.
OMFG and I don't usually say thing like that. C'mon guys, take it easy, that is just a demo Crazy how much it's hyped!! In fact, they're some hardcore aliens coming from outer space to throw down humanity on its teeth.
At last! A WOW effect again! It was worth the 2 years of work! This is the worst demo ever made. Absolutely terrible. Best demo ever!! I would've liked to have seen this combined with the lkcc demo :. THIS explains why the size of the pc demos were actually displayed on the slides, AND why the sizelimit for pc-demos was raised to 64mb!
Sorry, I just don't get it. Boring, with drab audio. Much prefer Popular and Candytron. Wholy shit! This is the first PC demo to really impress me in 10 years or so. Watching this on monitor without the free blur coming from the DTV stream is good before giving a sober and solid thumb. As you can see from our demo, I prefer a less cinematic style but I have absolutely no problem in recognizing the excellent effort made in this production: The feeling of movement you get from e. On the technical side, it is clear that FR has one of the best demotools around.
That's about everything I can say. Somehow, just as fr was jaw-dropping at it's time, fr does the same again. Over impressive. Supreme in every detail.
I thought it would get boring after a while but hell no, i enjoyed every single second watching that engine at work. Instant love. BUT: the sound-concept is well-elaborated, the grande "hund"-finale is superb and then the size - wow. We'll own you. But the final result is good even if it's perhaps too concept and too long. Thumbs up for the work and the directing. I don't know what to say.
No point in telling my penis this isn't porn. Wicked demo. First thing that came to my mind was Max Payne. And this is what happens when you try to squeeze too much stuff into a 64k I think even the most drunk people sobured up during this demo :. PL: ja pierdole co za demo!!!!!! ENG: awesome. There is nothing I can say that hasn't been said already, so I will just give you my thumbs up.
Fantastic work in every way. It looks really brilliant fitting to the style and suites the atmosphere rather perfectly! Thanks a LOT, fiver2, for explaining your influences a bit above here. It solved a lot of my guessings for sure! All comes absolutely TRUE and - from a filmer's point of view - without any doubts absolutely fantastic in what you wanted to achieve with that art and style! Bye, Weasel. Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
That comment was of course directed at crs. K-man: yes. A nice audiovisual pleasure tho a bit hyped imho. It really smells like a reverse name-voting to me. Maybe I wouldn't have been so angry at you if you just said "I am only thumbing this down because too many people thumbed it up and I don't think it deserves so much praise" :- And I don't get the "dentro" part of your post at all.
Does it fit the rules of the "demo" category? It does, therefore it is a demo. Definitely an awesome prod Demoscene at it's best! Hmm, I have mixed feelings about this one. On the other hand, it is a pretty boring at times though I totally dig the explosions.
I like the flow after the greetingspart, but before that it is too boring for me. Anyway, respect for doing something like that in such a small filesize! I guess I just have to watch it a few times more to be able to fully appreciate it. Great, impressive, very nice, everything you want. Sealthz: about covering one's ass yes, in your presence.
Drebis matters, Some sequences really rock. Hammer in the city Unbelievable alltime top! Great surprise. Great demo. Ok, after watching it smoothly, here's my thumb. And come on! Even Charlie thumbed it up, and he hates everything pc ;.
Very surreal, I love it ofcourse. It was partially for stuff like this I invested in a new graphics card From watching 'debris' at the party I remember shear amazement and then, being in middle of the standing crowd clapping like hell. Btw, camera work is unbelievably great ;. Impressive, love the greetings and end part. After seeing that on bigscreen, i just had an erection and my mouth was open If any of my groupmates would have told me that he somehow missed it, an instant kill would have followed.
Now back at home, it didn't quite make any special impression. It was the big cinema feeling, to which incredible camerawork and tiniest perfectly fitting pieces have contributed at the bigscreen, which didn't quite work at home. Perhaps also because the first time over it is always the strongest. Tons of respect for the good work! Whoever wasn't at the party cannot understand! Und wer die Size braucht, hat es nicht kapiert It would deserve all the hype if it was an intro.
Still a great release anyway. I was really astonished by the artwork. Nevertheless its all procedural looking at the file size The sights are very impressive, so is the camera movement. It made me feel that I am right there. Okay, this rocks big time. It has style and plenty of good ideas, and technically it's extremely impressive.
Quote: Lol, I just noticed that some corner rooms have lit and dark windows at the same time, this demo sucks Wow, just wow. Everything about this is very impressive. Very creative and enjoyable to watch. Some crazy ideas here and perfectly executed with great sync. Not quite as impacting as Popular Demo was but all the same a fantastic demo worthy of a all time top 10 pc demo ranking. Seriously, whoever thumbs this down is either: A.
Kidding : This is definately one of my all-time favorite demos. Thanks for the experience! I can't say anything that hasn't been said before. Fantastic demo, very original The kind of demo you only find once every few years. Impressive fascinating no more words Really impressive. Too bad for the hw requirements, I must say the last, controversed, demo was not my taste, this is. Wow, you can draw many untextured ugly boxes around some curves! What's so impressive in here?
Next time check "superellipsoid" shape to use something more elaborated. Explosion boxes have also normals messed up. Music is so-so. The demo is pretty boring, I even had to quit it early. Sorry guys, this doesn't look very convincing. Nothing I could I say would do this justice. First time ever I give thumbs up for the camera! Absolutely stunning. Congrats ;]. Funny to see that some guys thumb a perfect production down and think they were cool because of doing this!
This demo impressed me more then every demo i saw before! Lifepower show us your stuff which should be really impressive if you are such a Pro-Coder!
Vulva says rulez Is Farbrausch working on "Spore" the game? Proves the scene is not dead to me. Camera, direction, feel of size and power, even a "story". A true winner.
Ok, it is good. But 19 cdc's, come on!? I'm starting to understand all those cdc's. I hate you guys I kinda agree with Lifepower, I don't get what is so special about this demo. Thumb up only for size. Nothing more. I cant give u another thumb up but I want to say in all the bullshit of the scene and all the arrogance, you guys remain humble and deliver the best. I'm proud I was there at BP! Thanks guys!!!
The executable size is small. That's how farbrausch does it. Here is the th rulez! WOW just says it. As for the pretty visuals versus filesize, this is not neccesarily jawdropping anymore, as we know what we can expect from FR these days.
A slight minor is that the audio aint that stunning as the rest of the prod at least at home, the PA saved it :D. Visuals rock. Music rocks. Quote: On a scale from 1 to 10, I give them an E. I think it's a bit long-winded to watch again, but definitely impressive, and I love the camera work!
Yeah Plaf's right, the cameras totally looked hand-filmed Was blown away watching this through demotv. Can't stop raving it. Been throwing it at people since the party. Maybe because i see it as -so- polished and -so- smooth, to me its much more apt to an animation audience, and loses its wow factor somehow. I'll pig for now, until I feel guilty After lurking for years I've just created an account to give this demo a thumb up. Thanks, farbrausch, this one is just great.
Goes back to desktop after the loading screen sometimes with a fancy Vista error dialog. If you need any further details or need to betatest anything on the Vista computer if you are willing to fix it , let me know :. Just awesome. Well done guys!!!! Quote: Wow, you can draw many untextured ugly boxes around some curves! Superb, the industrial like background in adition of the very best hand-cam use do this demo one of my top10 productions Grantz again.
Ok, this is shit. Can't write optimized code, the animation is fugly and without deeper thought, the music is boring. Can't even animate houses properly. And of course I'm just kidding. This one of the best prods I've seen, ever. Someone really needs to send this demo to George Lucas and show him what talent these guys in Germany have - and all under k.
Very impressive! Akira inspiration? This is great in many aspects. Seemed a bit less great than in the compo but anyway :. Great kB of code, music and visual effects. The only drawback is the annoying moire in the beginning. Absolutely incredible. I hadn't watched a demo in ages, and the impact of seeing this was awsome.
Amazing direction and scale, really "puts you there". Actually I am not that much impressed - it's a bit too sterile sp? I couldnt explain this wounderfull Demo. Definately a thumb up. I would also say a very "commercial" demo, anyone who's not familiar with the demoscence will enjoy debris. It must be a mind-blowing experience to the newcomer Great music, great graphics, great presentation.
Overall, a really great demo. This demo is the most incredible ever, EVER. It needs a big screen and good sound system, though. My exp is that if I show it to people on my monitor they go like "yeah, that is a nice demo". But if I show it on my " screen - and turns up the volume - then people are about as awestruck as we were at the compo.
Yeah, ofcourse most demos look far greater on a big screen, but imo only few demos take as much advantage of a big screen as debris. Only minus is the dreadful aspect. Especially on a display, the tiny-weeny black borders on top and bottom look plain stupid. I must admit that I tend to run it in mode, stretching it vertically.
I would really appreciate if you would add a PanScan-option in the final version if such a thing should ever pop out. As my main rig has been KIA for quite some time, I've been stuck with a mediocre laptop with some generic Intel graphics crap, hence being unable to watch all the latest generation of demos. Also, I don't have an internet connection, so I've been reduced to warhogging ; Anyways, I've just finally seen this demo video form , and what can I say I'm ecstatic.
I'm happy because its been several years since I've seen something in the demoscene that has given me the same type of rush. So basically, what I want to say is: I love you guys ;. Don't care for your other stuff but this is some amazing time and effort. The looking up then at the fence then back again is the best part along with the great realistic effect of the security cameras.
Do another like this over the next few years. It just all fits together. Out of this world. Oh my god wow This gave me goosebumps the whole way through. It's so fluid and man I can't even describe it. Incredibly well done, guys! I really liked it. The equinox-logo in the greets was a really nice touch :. Made my GPU cry because I couldn't help but turn up the details. Looked absolutely spectacular, though. I'm so impressed, I don't even have the words to say how I feel about it! My new favorite demo of all time!
Slow as hell on my : Still looks very impressive. Ran the demo. All default settings x high texture quality and shadows. VERY smooth. Oo ' Farbraush's come back!!!!!!! How they procedurally generate all that content just boggles my mind. This is probably the most perfect example of a demo prod I have ever seen.
I am not worthy. Fantastic, he amount of work gone into this, both coding and production must off been unreal. I couldnt understand why I could only run it multisampling x2 smooth.
Then I realised its k. Spirit crushing are the right words to describe debris. The EXE is K only This demo feels like one of those nightmares where everything around you falls apart and you can't wake up from it. Very intense stuff - a mind fucking roller coaster ride. The best demos are great to look at and pleasing in every sense.
But this one sticks out because it also sucks you in! Entertainment at its best! My only "complains": The train when it drives by and when you're in it does not have a sound effect. And the 1st person camera could have a "personality" where it could show the stuff around it expressing fear of its "holder" fast "looking" from one effect to another or running away from it to a "safer" spot and then pointing back to the effect.
And some fixed cameras could be blown away too like the debris and still "transmitting". Thought the same when I saw the cover. Must thumb up the filesize and direction. Still the soundtrack sucks hard imho except for that part near the end with the giant HUND destroying the pavement , and it's yet another 3D flyby. But what a stylish one! This is probably the most incredible demo I have ever seen. You do need a powerful computer, and a good sound system to experience the power of this demo.
I liked every aspect of this demo besides hardware requirements It was a fucking cool experience. I don't see any problems with the soundtrack, it fits very well. Yes, fucking impressed! Das da, ist ein grandios talentierter Hund! This is really excellent. Great production, a 3d flybye maybe, but it's a really excellent put together, and some originally things in here.
Love the music, and k is just awesome. Oh my Gad. Farbrausch rulezz da Scene It'll set the new standards for future productions. Simply amazing technically, and not bad to the artistic side.
I'm very sorry for all the other demosgroups which have again a great challenge to deal with ;. My fave fr so far since poem. Thumbs and toes up! This prod seriously rules. The kind of "Kasparov on steroids" that I love. The music fits perfectly, the visuals are amazing and very nostalgic to me. Whenever some of my friends ask me "What is this demo-thingie about? That is the moment where they pass out :- Seriously, this is just amazing work by fiver2 and the crew! It's masterpiece!!! Why thumb down I agree, best kb intro ever, hands down!
Great prod, although my PC resists to show more than 1 fps. Thanks, but I tried all kind of configurations 3,4 GHz Single-Core, 1 Gig, Geforce XL , and things are running smoothly for 10 seconds, then it turns into a slideshow.
But never mind, I've got the video as well :. Mighty good for some boys in a shopping cart ;. One of the best if not; the best prod I've seen yet! Not to mention the size of it, it's mind blowing! Fantastic atmosphere in some scenes, amazingly well-done!
FR roolz big time. Best gfx I've seen in a while. Hey boys, you are not human being! I can't believe so beautiful video only k. More thumbs! FR need more thumbs! Decided that this was significant enough to be awarded my first CDC ever. Thank god this demo is only kb i had like k downloads in the first month!
Quote: awesome. Please final version please please please Who would've believed a demo featuring a skating overpass would be so entertaining and ground breaking? Extremely impressive, but a bit boring.
Does not deserve all-time top in my opinion. For me this is hard. On the technical sides its extremely impressive. But on the creative side, to me it honestly seemed a bit dull. I must say, I am a fan of demos with colour like Candytron, Frameskool etc.. This didnt seem that nice artistic wise, but technically I like a lot.
So for me its a piggy, since I can't really open up to a thumbs up, yet I cant thumb it down either. Quote: This didnt seem that nice artistic wise. Well, for me, one would be "Of Spirits Taken". To me, that had quite a direct approach, which I liked, a lot. Plus the visual style was quite appealing to me. To be honest, I don't feel the same about Debris as I do for Spirits Taken, mainly due to the visual style.
Sure, its very nice technically, but aesthetically, I just don't like the whole setting the dark colours to me arn't that appealing. But otherwise, its a good prod to me. Its just I am undecided on which way I should go. This is just my opinion, and I don't want to argue or debate over it :. Quote: drive and sense of storytelling. Incredible, but that AVG thing is horrible, because of that I haven't seen it in almost two months!
Respect for fitting this in k, but apart from that this didn't impress me as much as it seems to have impressed others. And judging it as a demo I must say I find it a bit one-sided and boring, though it looks very polished. I have lost count of how many times I have watched this prod. Debris reminds me of Dark City imdb. It runs smooth with AA on highest resolution. The computer is "Debris approved", so I am a happy man now.
B- Someone should design a sticker for it. My favourite demo at the time.. Still nice, but Lifeforce gave it a run for its money ;. Artistically, this demo didn't strike any chords, sorry.
However, I'd be an ass not to acknowledge the technical achievement. Up they go. Looks great, but is quite dull. Sorry, I left a comment but forgot the thumb up. Here it is. I guess I thought I already thumbed this. I remember seeing it veiled in MPEG compression artefacts on demoscene.
It does. I don't know how I could have missed this one, I just saw it yesterday. Love the music, too.. Thanks for the hires video. It is really a shame, that this one got only one scene award for best direction. When i saw this demo for first time i was like: "The O. O" This is beautifully work :. Wonderfully trippy, especially the end. Boring music and too slow paced for me I love it! Can I give this a second CDC, please?
