Gre super converter ii for scanners

Sorry for any repeat of information. I suggest getting one soon. These use user-serviceable parts UHF mixer transisitor so the converter will outlive you and all your future scanners. Perhaps a little subterfuge is in order. Perhaps GRE could private label a limited range i. Or simply market it as lab instrument intended to allow use of older limited range frequency counters at a 1,Mhz. It would be a damn shame to let these units disappear from that market- place.

So perhaps someone could contact whoever markets these things, have them relabel new imports, and make plans to market the unit with marketers of used electronic test gear Tucker, etc. Not to be used with radio scanners.

I wonder if a frequency counter pre-scaler wouold work? Time to check those electronics test equipment mags and look for suppliers. Thanks for 'reminding' me!

Andy Top 1. Spam Report. I am not quite ready to throw the towel in on this unit, I would like to see what it can do. I know how to do the hookups, that was the easy part, I guess the real question is, how do you "bypass" the scanner to that the super converter is "scanning"? I know this is likely a scanner specific series of buttons. I do not remember having to set a "limit" and search from - but, I will give it a shot.

Again, thanks! That was a good try, I could read most of it, and I think if I could find that manual, it would answer my question. K5MAR Member. The Superconverter doesn't scan, the scanner does that, the Suoerconverter just downconverts the received frequency, MHz is correct.

Just tested mine on a TRS frequency, Programmed my old Pro to Set up your scanner for whatever you want to do, Search or Scan, in the MHz band; turn on the Superconverter and you'll be receiving the MHz band signals.

OK, so the bottom line is, if I am searching - with the converter hooked up and on, I am really searching - ? How do you confirm that you are indeed searching the converter range? What is the point of doing this? The point was: A fellow radio enthusiast asked for literature relating to the GRE I have that piece of equipment and the original literature that goes with it.

Sorry if I offended anyone. To prevent further negative comments and observations I hereby withdraw my offer. Dubbin Member Feed Provider. Slightly off topic but pertinent to the recent posts in this thread. It is hard enough to communicate ideas in writing and next to impossible when short, unreferenced comments abound. That was what I was asking. What they were for. Thanks for backup! As I recall this converter will also allow your scanner to receive the block cellular portion of the MHz band as well.

That's why I purchased one way back when they were first marketed. Now some will feel a need to warn about illegality, and how there is nothing to hear there anymore.

Well, I still catch a signal or two in that spectrum, and I am not in a rual area, either. But there isn't much, since the police in that range went P25 around here, and most but not all cell phones are digital. There is enough traffic on the state DPS system that I otherwise might miss comms on these simplex channels. Winsongs, if you change your mind I'd like to get a copy of those instructions.
