I will also mention that when I've seen this error message in the past, it usually means the file is completely hosed. Had it happen recently, in fact, and lost a large chunk of work -- I simply could not recover any part of the file, and believe me, I tried everything!

Maybe you'll be luckier than I. Definitely try that as well. I can't open this file with the Open command, or drag and drop or double clicking.
