Dashboard was definitely one of the highlights of the Tata Indica Vista D90 car. The AC was very powerful too and was able to cool the car very quickly and even the backseat drivers could get the cold air quickly! Best part of the dashboard was the stereo system. I liked the feel and finish of the dashboard and I also realized that there are airbags in the car which adds to its safety features! Coming to the boot space of the car, its very spacious and can include a lot of your shopping and luggage when you are travelling long distances.
You could push the backseat flat and put more luggage if only 2 people were traveling in the car in case you had a lot of luggage! Some of the pros I saw was that design is good, shock absorption is good, leg room is better and power steering is very good. Some of the cons I saw were torque not good, AC noise too much and parking sensors could have been better. My friend Santosh tried out the Tata Indica Vista D90 and he said that some of the pros for him were the looks, adjustable driver seat, 90PS quadrajet engine, dashboard and interiors.
For him the cons were gear shifting and jerk feeling during acceleration. Learn how your comment data is processed. There is a reason men fall for looks- Of Cars I mean. Front Cabin is full of Toys. On the other side, the Quadrajet 75 produces a power of 75 PS and a torque of Nm, so this makes the Vista D90 look powerful with the additional 15PS and 10Nm of torque. The tit bit changes were visible but then not convincing enough. After being briefed about the product it was finally time to test it ourselves and find out the distinguishing factors in this new avtar.
It started with a welcome change once inside the cabin with the revisited interior styling and the repositioned instrumental console. The new cabin now leaves positives vibes with the entire new trims. Even the button and plastic quality have been improved. As soon as the diesel unit was cranked, unlike the normal rattling and bustling of a diesel machine, this one felt very smooth. The steering size is just perfect and all the controls and buttons were very much in easy reach.
A small push on the accelerator and the D90 unit got active. After going through all the options on the entertainment screen and playing with them for a while, we were finally ready to test the Vista D90 on the sun scorched test track of Tata Motors. This arrangement mainly helps reduce the turbo lag.
Also, this helps get a strong power delivery even at lower rpms. Tata Motors have also insulated the cabin on the D90 with a special NVH pack which cancels the exterior noise completely. This insulation is indeed very effective. Even at higher rpms there is negligible noise penetrating the cabin.
Along with the other changes, the suspension setup has been tweaked too. The springs have now been stiffened. Even while cornering at high speeds, the vehicle did not lose traction at all. The ride remains uniform and not choppy. The only drawback faced was the understeer. Due to the understeer, it takes considerable efforts to retain the track of the vehicle. The steering lacks precise feedback and leaves with a certain room of improvement.
Braking on the Vista D90 remains confident and consistent. Also, the steering wheel does not flutter considerably when the tyres are put to a screeching halt. This helps to cut out the outside noise and also reduces the in cabin noise.
Indica Vista has always been a spacious hatchback, and this plus point is still retained. The same 1. The difference is of the turbocharger. It gets a variable geometric turbo that spools at even lower rpm reducing the lag and also produces 15 horses more than the conventional quadrajet engine.
These added 15bhp do not make the Vista go that faster, but it does improve its in-gear acceleration. This makes the Vista D90 more drivability with ease and one can potter around in city traffic, even when in a higher gear. The need to downshift does not exist. The low-end torque is decent, but is better than the 75bhp quadrajet. The gearing has also been revised, and the ratios are tailored to suit the driving conditions in city traffic and also for the highway.
This has made the torque more usable and the vehicle does perform well. This car will shine when it is driven on an open road; this is where the work of the 15 horses will be more prominent. The ride of the Vista was always good and we had bragged about it even in our Indica Vista quadrajet reliability report. The ride suppleness is excellent and it does seem pliant on low as well as high speeds. The suspension does a good job of absorbing the jounce and rebounds.
The suspension of the Vista D90 has been tweaked for better handling; this included some changes in the torsion beam reducing the body roll.
